Fully customisable and expandable

Unlike storage vendors that ensure application vendors handle the workload, StarWind implements an open, software-modular design at storage controller level, taking care of data locality and offloading I/O from network and application servers. StarWind Storage Appliance is fully customisable and expandable and accepts third-party application modules as Windows services, containers or VMs on top of storage. Data mining, analytics or raw data processing applications run directly in the controller, skipping network switched fabric layer completely and dramatically improving performance.


Runs as a native hypervisor component or in VM, and it does not require any deep storage and network administration or UNIX management skills. A typical system administrator with minimal experience in Hyper-V, VMware or Windows can install, configure and maintain VSAN operations.


Cuts operational and capital expenditure costs at least in half. It eliminates the physical shared storage, infrastructure, associated deployment and maintenance activities. StarWind VSAN works on commodity hardware, so there’s not only less hardware to purchase and maintain, but also the required hardware is inexpensive.
